Jewellery company Curteis challenged David escape from 10kg of solid gold chain. Valued at around £110,000 ($200,000). The escape took place during a trade show at Earls Court in London. David was locked into the chain and padlocked into two secure transport bags which the company normally uses when transporting valuable items such as gold.
The company also supplied the padlocks used in the escape. After freeing himself in under 3 minutes David held the bags, still securely locked, above his head. The gold chain was found to be still locked inside the bag. Event security inspected the bag both before and after the escape and could not find any way in which David could have escaped.
